NEW YEAR – NEW CYBER THREAT
Post on January 5th, 2018

New reports inform that a computer run by any Intel processor from 1995 onward, bar Itanium and Atom chips manufactured before 2013 are likely vulnerable to new attacks called Meltdown and Spectre.  Cloud environments are also affected.

The flaw allows a hacker to read information from the memory at the “kernel” level deep in the operating system that’s key to the functioning of the computer.

What can you do?

  • Back up your system and retain the backup in separate locations
  • Be on the lookout for any unusual activity.
  • Updates are the best antidote to the problem.  Click here for a list of the updates available now.
  • Watch for continued updates as they become available.
